Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw | IND-TECH

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America's Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down. But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever — and bests a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent (The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw’s sister — these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw Review

Just watched it today with my friend Alondra at the San Miguel Cinemax Theater. It was quite hilarious! A true comedy if I might say so myself. Thanks to all the humor in this new Fast & Furious installment, it is by far my favorite film in the whole franchise.

Following the previous chapter titled Fate of the Furious, it's interesting to see how the Rock's journey unfolds with his new sidekick, Shaw. Instead of reintroducing the old characters like the late Paul Walker's character Brian O'Connor or Dominic Toretto played by Vin Diesel, Dwayne's look alike, it tells a very entertaining action story of these two, funny misfits.

The Rock Dwayne Johnson is quite buff I agree, and a very fine looking Polynesian celebrity, but I also really like his sidekick Shaw a lot. He is a funny fellow. In fact, the two of them together make a great team when it comes to comedy. I was cracking up the whole time in the theater. And to think that they actually end up becoming a band of unlikely heroes by joining forces with Shaw's sister, the stealthy spy lady who helps them by tracking down a deadly virus and extracting it before it falls into the hands of the villain.

Also about this movie, I love how some of the film locations were partly shot in London and Moscow and the finale for the big showdown in the Rock's home island of Samoa where all his Tahitian family and friends live. This aspect really connected to me, because the previous Summer I embarked on my first trip to Europe, visiting cities that included London, Florence and Rome. During the Summer before that, my parents took me on a trip to the tropical terrain of Maui located in the Hawaiian islands, a landscape reminiscent to Samoa. By watching Hobbs and Shaw, I felt as if I were revisiting those places, and it brought back a lot of memories, making me feel nostalgic. I appreciate this movie for being uniquely different than its prequels and focusing more on comedy rather than just pure action.

Lastly in this film, I like that we get the meet the Rock's daughter and see his personal relationship with her. She kind of reminded me of the title character in Disney's Moana, which the Rock additionally starred in.

So those are all my opinions of this film. In a nutshell, I appreciate it for being funny, different, transporting me back to places that remind me of previous trips, the Rock's daughter, and the humor between the two misfits mentioned in the film's title. One thing I'm critical about is the villain being black as I am anti-white supremacist. Also dislike Dwayne's sexual relationship with Shaw's sister as they're different ages, not to mention the mass destruction. Nevertheless, it's damn funny as I said and quite entertaining to watch, so my rating would probably be a 9/10. I absolutely recommend it for everyone, particularly fans.

Mission Mangal 2019

The real-life story of the Indian Space Research Organisation's Mars Orbiter Mission which made Mars more accessible to explore.

Mission Mangal 2019 Review :-

We can categorise Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Mangal in science fiction genre, but this fiction is a reality.I was in 10th standard when first I read about MOM (Mars Orbitor Mission). As an Indian I wished to go about it.Now,many years later this  movie based on MOM feeds my curiosity.

Akshay has proven himself in patriotic feel good films. However Mission Mangal covers a huge support cast includes Vidya Balan,Tapsee Pannu,Sonakshi Sinha,Sharman Joshi,Sanjay Kapoor and some others.

Camera starts with the failure of ISRO's brilliant scientist Rakesh Dhawan (Akshay Kumar) and Tara Shinde's (Vidya Balan) rocket launch.Tara thinks it was her fault behind their project failure.Rakesh still relax and has appointed as project head on Mars Mission. Now on this believes impossible mission except Rakesh and Tara everyone is  naive whether it is new driving license applicant Kritika (Tapsee Pannu) or Parmeshwar Naidu (Sharman Joshi) who believes in kundli.Sonakshi,
Nitya,Kirti Kulhari and H.G Dattatreya have also played the part of this unexperienced team.Dilip Tahil essayed as a villian who demotivates the team.

How our ISRO team made possible the impossible in limited budget of 400 crores in contrast of America and China's 5000 crores project is watchable.

Mission Mangal can't be quote as only a Akshay's film because Vidya Balan gives him a tough competition. She portrayed a perfect lady who manages the home science and space science together.Sanjay Kapoor played Vidya's husband. It's good to see him dancing on his own number 'Ankhaniyan Milaye'.Sharman as Parmeshwar gave some lighter moments.Other actors receive the tag of average.Every character has its own significance but it is Akshay who assembles everyone.

Director Jagan Shakti points camera towards Tara's family after every 10 Minutes which stretches the length of movie.Whereas no back story for Rakesh which upsets. The simplification of rocket science is interesting which brings film close to every class of audience.Song 'Dil mein mars' is full of enthusiasm.CGI is good and screenplay covers many pleasant innovative life hacks.Jagan Shakti has made his debut with a good topic.

Overwhelming,Mission Mangal celebrates the victory of Indian Space Science. It narrates the story of success after failure and inspires millions of people. One time watchers will not upset on this scientific journey.

Sacred Games 2

Sacred Games 2

Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Directors: Anurag Kashyap, Neeraj Ghaywan

Sacred Games 2 Review :-

The wait was worth it. Sacred Games 2 is far bigger and better than the previous season. The making of Ganesh Gaitonde has everything you would expect from a classic Netflix tale, and more. Which means, you’re in for a thrilling time, and this one could put Indian storytellers on the world map.

With a new co-director in Neeraj Ghaywan, Anurag Kashyap has returned to the fore with more bloodthirsty gangsters, more alert cops and a whole bunch of new players with deep entrenched fangs in the Indian government. They can do whatever they want with legitimacy but they need the man from Gopalmath Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) to carry out their plans. No more spoilers, but in one stroke, the directors have made the game ‘much bigger than all of us.’

Then there is Kashyap’s trademark style of showing time lapse—news clips, songs and special props. He never lets you lose the temporal sense, not even for a minute. A barrage of political comments is unleashed at us right there, and you understand how political it could be if it actually is based on the people we think it is.

Some scores are also settled. For example, there is a director immensely interested in making films on gangsters and how he gets played. Some deviations from Vikram Chandra’s book of the same name are visible but I happily ignored them as what I witnessed was totally unexpected of any Indian show till date. Calling it mere brave and meticulous would be understatement.

Saif Ali Khan’s Sartaj Singh has slowly come to his own. Without dropping his original ‘morose yet lovable’ character sentiment, he is there investigating the case at his own pace. In a way, more than Gaitonde, it’s Singh who is narrating the story. If Gaitonde tells us the crime part of it, Singh takes us through the police/government side of it with all innocence and curiosity. It’s a double trap for the viewers, who are torn between the two sides finalising which one to root for.

While the first season was an absolute Gaitonde riot, the second elevates some other major characters, and introduces a new one—a terrific Pankaj Tripathi as Guruji. What a revelation he has been in last couple of years!

The many women in Gaitonde’s life also get to unveil their repertoire, especially Jojo (Surveen Chawla). They add a human angle to the bizarrely foul-mouthed mobster. However, it remains a man’s world with occasional women exercising their strength only to get beaten by the circumstances.

Like the first season, this one can also be accused of wrapping and presenting cheap thrills in the name of a thriller, but it’s perfectly mounted and is one of the best shows on Netflix. In fact, it may become another Narcos or Money Heist for the streaming app. India couldn’t have given it a better Launchpad.

My Rating : 4.5/5
IMDB Rating : 8.7/10
